Duties

Maintains the appointment calendar(s) for the Brigade Commander and at times the DCO, CSM or supervisor, and schedules appointments and meetings. Receives and screens visitors and phone calls. Determines the nature of the request, refers callers or visitors to appropriate staff. Drafts correspondence on topics (such as office procedures and requests for information) based on knowledge of policies, precedents, and practices. Type’s correspondence, reports or similar materials from handwritten or electronic drafts using a computer. Responsible for the conference room preparation, scheduling, and establishing VTC for meetings.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Qualified typist is required.
  • One year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • TDY may be Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel for this position.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes coordinating travel arrangements for group members utilizing the Defense Travel System to include preparing travel books (engagement notes and plans), maintaining executive calendars, preparing and reviewing administrative correspondence in accordance with agency standards, and establishing internal controls and advising personnel in subordinate offices on administrative procedures and regulations, using various software packages (e.g., Microsoft Office Word, Outlook, calendar, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.) to create, update, edit, and revise a wide range of documents, automated records, databases, etc. Prepare and manage electronic correspondence on open and classified networks.Coordinate with supply to maintain the front office supply locker. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Attention to DetailCustomer Service (Clerical/Technical)Technical CompetenceWritten Communication Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
