About the Position: The position is located at the Installation Management Command, Directorate of Public Works (DPW), Fort Benning, GA. Fort Benning, GA is located 100 miles south of Atlanta and is adjacent to Columbus, GA and Phenix City, AL. The geography and climate are ideal for year round military training. Public transportation and free parking are available.
Duties
Performs a variety of duties in the development of on-site plans and sketches, and with projects involving repair, maintenance and utilities.
Reviews engineering service requests and determines what is needed to fulfill intent of requests.
Compiles and develops work and design specifications governing shop fabrication, performance evaluation, assembly, and delivery of special adapting devices or parts of equipment/facilities and systems.
Receives assignments in the form of a work request or individual job order (IJO) for construction contracts.
Conducts inspection of construction of both Real Property Maintenance Activity (RPMA)/Military Construction Army (MCA) projects and, as directed, projects performed by contractors under MCA funding.
Independently or as a member of a working group, responds to facility engineering violations or operations problems.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience for External Candidates: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) conducting field inspections of maintenance and repair service work being accomplished to document and report findings and 2) coordinating various features of engineering projects with engineers and nonprofessional engineering personnel relating to civil engineering, structural engineering, electrical engineering, fire engineering or other related engineering features of the project. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-10).
Specialized Experience for External Candidates: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) reviewing final plans, models, and/or details for engineering/construction projects to ensure compliance; and 2) completing engineering maintenance service requests. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
