You will serve as a Lead Prototyping Electronics Technician in the Munitions Prototyping Branch (E25), Advanced Hypersonics Weapons & Guided Munitions Division; Integrated Engagement Systems Department of NAVSURFWARCENDLD. This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. The NT-05 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to the GS-13 and GS-14. This position is salary capped GS-13 Step 10 (currently $145,617). See "Additional Information" section.

Duties

You will serve as Lead Electronics technician responsible to analyze, update, fabricate, populate and install printed circuit boards (PCBs) and electronic subsystems of prototype hypersonic and guided munitions for multiple RDTE programs. You will lead a team of technicians for electronic builds to include integration with mechanical assemblies into fully functioning test articles. You will work with senior staff, program managers and sponsors to establish requirements and timelines for electronic builds. You will work across the E20 Division and with contractor organizations, providing input on building and testing electronic subsystems. You will lead the troubleshooting and repair of PCBs and electronic assemblies as necessary to meet mission timeline requirements. You will coordinate and participate in test events for hypersonics and guided munitions at NSWCDD and various other military installations to include test setup and telemetric data acquisition. You will apply knowledge of best practices in environmental and laboratory requirements for the assembly of PCBs and electronic systems, to include the manual and automated population of soldered subcomponents. You will be responsible for the coordination of maintenance and repair of automated machinery (stencil printers, reflow ovens, pick and place, etc.). You will ensure all electronic subcomponents are inventoried and their use recorded in specific PCBs and prototype builds. You will document all processes and builds, and collaborate with management and engineering teams when adopting new changes. You will mentor and train other technicians and junior engineers, both government and contractor.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NT-04 (GS-11/12 equivalent) pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector conducting electronics technical work for the fabrication, test & evaluation, or integration of electronics for hypersonic weapons or guided munitions. Examples of qualifying experience may include: creation and population of printed circuit boards for hypersonic weapons using electrical schematics; assembly of electronic subsystems for guided munitions; electronics integration with guided weapon system mechanical assemblies; troubleshooting and repair of guided weapon system electronics; plotting methods for electronics survivability in gun launch environments and operation of telemetry equipment for the collection of data.
