Duties

Serves as a team leader and senior specialist in a branch responsible for establishing policy and providing expert technical supply, resource, and financial advice and services to the DLA Distribution Centers. In concert with the supervisor, reviews, analyzes and develops command-wide policies and distribution related plans. Interprets and clarifies policies and procedures to all levels of management and employees. Serves as central point of contact for assigned site commanders to provide service and support. Serves as a resource and may be detailed to augment key critical positions on site at a distribution center to support major changes in mission, transitions, or other critical or emergency requirements. Develops, plans, implements and administers programs for command supply distribution operations and programs. Evaluates interrelationships between program goals and financial resources and policies throughout the activities involved with a particular service.

Qualifications

To qualify for a Supply Management Specialist, your resume and supporting documentation must support: A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-13 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: - Developing long range storage utilization plans and reviewing and providing comments on policy for stock positioning; - Evaluating interrelationships between program goals and financial resources and policies throughout the activities involved with a particular service; and - Coordinating and conducting briefings, in-process reviews, reports, executive summaries or other appropriate means of conveying status of various studies or initiatives to higher echelon. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
