About the Position: This position is for an Army Community Service Specialist with the Installation Management Command (IMCOM), Directorate of Morale, Welfare and Recreation, Army Community Services Division located in Fort Carson, CO.

Duties

Maintain support program requirements focusing on referrals and follow-ups to determine if services were provided. Provide ACS services to include client intake, information and referral, crisis intervention, life skills, and transition services. Advise on career transition, relocation, personal financial management, emergency/crisis assistance, and personal and family readiness. Utilize factual data and practical skills to enable clients to make informed choices tailored to their specific needs/concerns.

  • This position may require temporary duty (TDY) or business travel up to 5% of the time.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. BASIC REQUIREMENTS: Successful completion of a bachelor's or higher degree that included a major field of study in behavioral or social science or related disciplines appropriate to the position. (NOTE: You must attach a copy of your transcripts for verification with your application package.) OR A combination of education and experience that provided knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. (NOTE: You must attach a copy of your transcripts for verification with your application package.) OR Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. AND SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One year of specialized experience which includes demonstrated experience 1) assisting with individual and family consultation services, education, referrals and follow-up; 2) providing appropriate information to clients regarding community service programs; AND 3) using various office automation software. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: behavioral or social science. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
