This position is part of the Defense Human Resources Activity. The incumbent will serve as an IT Specialist (APPSW) Team Leader,
leading a team of business analysts that perform application software development work.
Duties
As a Lead IT Specialist (APPSW) at the GS-2210-14 some of your typical work assignments may include:
Serves as an IT Specialist (APPSW) Team Leader, leading a team of business analysts that perform application software development work; providing guidance and support in software development methodologies, best practices, and quality assurance.
Oversees the entire software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, design, coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance. Designs, develops, and implements application software solutions that align with business needs and requirements, ensuring adherence to coding standards, software development frameworks, and security protocols.
Leads the analysis phase of the project, which involves gathering requirements, understanding user needs, and analyzing existing systems or processes.
Plays a key role in the design and architecture phase of the project.
Leads the implementation and deployment of the software solution.
Identifies potential risks and develops mitigation strategies to address them. Proactively monitors project risks, implements risk management plans, and takes corrective actions as necessary.

Qualifications
You may qualify at the GS-14, if you fulfill the following qualifications:
A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service:
Experience with leading and managing software development projects and delivering innovative solutions;
Demonstrated knowledge of system and application security principles;
Previous or current experience as a team lead or supervisor role providing technical guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure the successful completion of projects;
Oversees all phases of the SDLC, including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance;
Experience working within Department of Defense (DoD) security requirements and compliance standards, including the Risk Management Framework (RMF) and Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).
