The VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System is recruiting for a Supervisory Medical Administration Officer. The Supervisory Medical Administration Officer will function in Ambulatory Care & Processing section of Patient Care Administrative Service (PCAS).
Duties
Coordinating administrative functions for the support staff in multiple clinics and clinical support areas.
Coordinating training for support staff in multiple clinics and clinical support areas.
Analyzing and data mining reports.
Planning and scheduling work assignments.
Assuring equitable distribution of work.
Ensuring timely performance of work of satisfactory quantity and quality.
Reviewing, accepting, amending, or rejecting administrative work performed.
Advising management on administrative policies and requirements.
Provides input regarding major business and administrative duties as it relates to program management and overall operations of the clinical areas.
Ensures all administrative support functions are adequately staffed on a regular basis.
Assures equitable distribution of work.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 09/30/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-09 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-07. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.

All Title 38 Veterans Canteen Service (VCS) employees must have served in their Excepted Service position for at least 90 days in order to be eligible for a position within the Competitive Service.
Applicants who were previously selected under a Competitive Delegating Examining Unit (DEU) announcement must have served in their position for at least 90 days prior to being eligible for other positions within the Competitive Service.
In addition to the qualification above you must also have:
Specialized Experience: You must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level in the Federal service to qualify for the GS-09. Specialized experience is defined as experience which equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform successfully the duties of the Supervisory Medical Administrative Officer, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position. Examples of specialized experience include: Working knowledge of applicable public laws, federal and policies and regulations, station directives, legal decisions, and state laws dealing with care and treatment of veterans and beneficiaries; ability to interpret rules, regulations, policies, and procedures to make sound decisions, using good judgment; working knowledge of medical and administrative records systems to determine eligibility, register/admit patients, schedule/adjust tours of duty for staffing purposes, retrieve information and prepare reports; Monitoring programs, projects, operations, or activities; knowledge of medical and technical terminology and the functions of specialty departments and divisions within a medical center; ability to cope with problems and initiate resolution while working independently and with minimal or no supervision. OR,
Education: You must possess a Master's or equivalent graduate degree or two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree. OR,
Combination Specialized Experience and Education: You must possess a combination of specialized experience and education to qualify for the Supervisory Medical Administrative Specialist position. Combinations of graduate education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements for the GS-07, and may be computed by first determining the total qualifying experience as a percentage of education required for the GS-07; then determining the education as a percentage of education required for the GS-07; and then adding the two percentages. The total percentages must equal 100% to qualify for the GS-09 grade level.

Physical Requirements: The physical requirements of this position are primarily sedentary, however, some slight physical effort maybe required.
