Duties

You will coordinate, monitor and expedite the efforts of the SUPSHIP office and supporting NAVSEA activities throughout the ship construction period focusing on events necessary to assure timely ship delivery. You will monitor the activities and problems confronting the shipbuilder and various SUPSHIP BATH departments by conducting regular conferences and establishing a reporting system to keep the PMR and others informed of ship status and issues. You will establish and maintains effective communication and liaison with various process groups to expedite resolution and correction of impediments to achieving ship delivery in accordance with contractual schedules. You will gather and analyze a variety of technical, cost and schedule information from many different sources. You will develop reports, briefings and presentations to the Supervisor of Shipbuilding, Ship's Acquisition Project Manager and Government activities detailing the status of technical problems, industrial work, logistics and cost/schedule issues. You will coordinate the accomplishment of authorized new or modified work by the contractor. You will in concert with the ship's Prospective Commanding Officer (PCO), identify and recommend technical changes required as feasible for the accomplishment on assigned ships. You will initiate contract change action, including technical scope preparations. You will coordinate engineering review, technical approvals, cost review, and assists with contract negotiation of "in process" changes. You will manage change budgets to insure availability of funding. Works with PMR, SUPSHIP Bath Contracts and others as required to have accurate and timely funding status, plans and monitors spending required to support major milestones.

  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You may be required to perform occasional sea duty.

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Monitoring contract activities or performance for shipbuilding, or ship construction, repair, or modernization projects to ensure compliance with contract requirements.
