This position is located in Department of Homeland Security, United State Coast guard, Sector Columbia River Command Center (SCC), Portland, OR.

Duties

As the Assistant Sector Command Center (SCC) Chief (ascc), Command Duty Officer (CDO) and Search and Rescue Mission Coordinator (SMC).  As the Assistant Command Center Chief, the incumbent serves as a member of the Command Center’s supervisory staff and manages the development and implementation of mission and administrative procedures and protocols, facility readiness, and the professional development and certification of the assigned workforce, to include all civilian, officer, and enlisted personnel to support Command Center functions.

• This is a drug-testing designated position.

Qualifications

To Qualify for the GS-13 Grade Level: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 in the Federal service.  Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include: Providing administration and technical supervision to employees. Knowledge of the Search and Rescue program Law, Enforcement operations pollution response and marine safety programs. Ability to interpret policies, procedures and regulations relevant to Coast Guard SAR, Law Enforcement, and MER. Ability to develop and/or present data for the review and analysis of operational activities. (e.g., Coast Guard Business Intelligence reports/cubes). Overseeing Search and Rescue cases.  Providing advisory services to operating or management officials regarding Search and Rescue programs and missions. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule, C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.
