Duties
As an Investigative Analyst, you will be performing work involving the research, analysis, and or evaluation of information to assist special agents in investigations of IRS employee fraud and misconduct perpetrated through the use of IRS computer systems and business processes and to develop new scenarios for detecting IRS employee fraud and misconduct.
The following are the duties of this position at the GS-13. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
As an Investigative Analyst, you will:
Monitor, review, and update assigned national and local investigative initiatives to determine whether initiatives are generating productive leads of IRS employee misconduct.
Conduct valid and reliable research to analyze internal and external information to assess risk factors and identify high-risk areas.
Evaluate complex systems, control and information, and provide sufficient, competent and reliable evidence to support issues on integrity situations.
Prepare and conduct briefings on new analytical techniques or IRS employee fraud detection scenarios to other investigative analysts, management, TIGTA SACs, and or Office of Investigations executives.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
For the GS-07: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service.
Specialized experience includes:
-applying investigative procedures and techniques in order to analyze information
OR
One full year of graduate level education in a related field;
OR,
Superior Academic Achievement based on a bachelor's degree that is demonstrated through class standing (upper 1/3 of class), grade point average (2.95/4.0 overall or 3.5/4.0 in major);
OR,
election to membership in a qualifying national scholastic honor society.
For the GS-09: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service.
Specialized experience includes:
-applying investigative procedures and techniques in order to analyze and research information, and
-determine what information is required to implement investigations.
OR
Master's or equivalent graduate degree OR two (2) full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D. Attach a copy of transcript or list of college courses designating semester or quarter hours earned to ensure proper credit.
For the GS-11: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service.
Specialized experience includes:
-applying investigative procedures and techniques in order to analyze research and/or evaluate information; and
-assist others with investigations.
OR
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR three (3) full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M.
