This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Modified Direct Hire Auth, Section 1109; PL, 116-92, dated 12/20/2019 to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: Serves as Engineering Technician for the Directorate of Public Works (DPW), Operations and Maintenance Division (OMD. This position is located in Fort Bragg, NC. located just from the beautiful beaches and Blue Ridge and Smoky Mountains.
Duties
Develops and coordinates contract repair projects of installation real property.
Recommends materials and parts/equipment required and procedures to be used in completing work.
Analyze failed systems to determine repairs needed to negotiate scopes of work, timelines, and cost and orders out work to be accomplished.
Drives various vehicles to and from the work site in order to transport self, supplies, and other employees throughout the installation and on public roads.
Manage the maintenance executed at key customer facilities and sub installations.
Determine needed repairs, prepare preliminary government estimates, create service orders for GPC government purchases or DA 4283 (work orders) for repair/replacements.
Make site visits and conducts meetings, with the Ordering Officer as necessary to develop project agreements between the customer, other DPW action officers, contractor representatives, and others.

- The employee must be able to possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a One year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes coordinating repair with Corps of Engineers and original construction contractors of work requests for in-house maintenance and repair of installation real property. Developing broad plans, sketches, and estimates costs using engineering performance standards; maintaining projects and contract status in work management systems; and provides facility engineering data. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
