The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a team lead and establish deadlines on projects and work to be aaccomplished, and independently carry out day-to-day functions, to include precedent setting cases, highly controversial actions, unique situations and establish new procedures for new programs.
Duties
Provides technical support and assistance in processing military personnel actions
Interviews personnel, and obtains additional information from previously completed files and records to make initial determination of eligibility of the individual for the requested action based upon technical knowledge and applicable regulations
Performs a variety of clerical and administrative duties in support of the office
As the Senior Technician of the Section: plans work to be accomplished; interprets policies and procedures, and establishes priorities

- After duty hours, the incumbent is subject to recall for the same purpose
- The incumbent is subject to performing shift work
- Has authentication authority for DD214 and DD215 forms per AR 635-8
- This position is for military/OA and requires a qualified typist
- Incentive for prior work or Active Duty experience may be used to determine leave accrual
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions, 0203 Series.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE FOR CURRENT FEDERAL EMPLOYEES: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-05, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position including knowledge of, and skill in applying, an extensive body of military personnel rules, regulations, procedures, and precedents relating to promotions, reassignments, personnel actions, transitions, in and outprocessing, officer and enlisted records, military awards, and/or recognition programs.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time--in-grade requirements to be considered eligible.
(CURRENT FEDERAL EMPLOYEES) One year at the GS-05 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-07 level.
(NON-FEDERAL EMPLOYEES) One year at the GS-06 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-07 level.
TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of Army Military Personnel programs to include promotions, reassignment, personnel actions, transitions, in and outprocessing, officer/enlisted records, and military awards.
Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.
Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of a small to medium sized organization.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Knowledge of military organizational structure, protocol, and similar matters.
Ability to use various computer programs.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
