About the Position: This position is located at Fort Novosel, Alabama, home of the United States Army Aviation Center of Excellence. Fort Rucker is located in the "Wiregrass" area in Southeast Alabama, surrounded by Enterprise, Ozark and Daleville. The geography and climate are ideal for year-round military training. Recreation activities are abundant in the immediate and surrounding areas for family and fun.

Duties

Serve as a coordinator and integrator of Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape (SERE) C training, training support, leader development and individual training requirements for SERE School. Manage the SERE Level C Program of Instruction, evaluation and training of SERE Cadre. Provide training support by managing and maintaining effective plans and organization for the execution of the program. Research and keeps current on new technology and doctrinal developments in order to improve the quality and scope of training. Supervise the work efforts of training instructors, specialists and support personnel engaged in carrying out the assigned missing.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year Supervisory probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
  • Must be able and willing to attend the Advanced SERE (Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape) Training.
  • Must be Level "C" qualified or qualify within 6 months of employment.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) planning and organizing SERE training activities 2) knowledge of policies, regulations, directives, and procedures applicable to the SERE Training Program (3) using automated systems to monitor the progress of training material development. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
