You will serve as a LEAD FIREFIGHTER (BASIC LIFE SUPPORT) in the SECURITY BATTALION of MARINE CORPS BASE QUANTICO.
Duties
You will serve as a Lead Firefighter (Lieutenant) within the QFES Branch including the Fire Suppression, Emergency Medical Transport Services, Fire Prevention, and Training Division.
You will direct crews in the performance of various standby duties (e.g. maintenance and inspection of equipment, execution of training, drills, and conducts annual Fire and Hydrant risk assessments.)
You will conduct demonstrations and lectures, instructing Fire Department personnel concerning topics of firefighting techniques, basic emergency medical care, hazardous materials, and fire protection and prevention methods.
You will respond to rescue and life safety situations involving fire, aircraft, water, high level, confined space, and hazardous materials incidents.
You will conduct and participate in regular periodic drills, to assure a high degree of readiness, and observes participants in order to assure a minimum amount of deficiencies in methods and procedures.
You will respond as a member of an emergency response company and performs ambulance/rescue responses involving BLS medical services, mass casualty incidents, small and large emergencies, ambulance transportation of the injured, and emergencies.

- You must be certified as a FIREFIGHTER I by the Department of Defense (DoD), International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) or ProBoard.
- You must be certified as a FIREFIGHTER II by the Department of Defense (DoD), International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) or ProBoard.
- You must be certified in HAZARDOUS MATERIAL OPERATIONS by the Department of Defense (DoD), International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) or ProBoard.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- You must be certified as a FIRE INSTRUCTOR I by the Department of Defense (DoD), International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) or ProBoard.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: leading, directing, training use of firefighting equipment and apparatus, and providing technical assistance in fire suppression/protection for structures, hazardous materials incidents, aircraft, water, and confined spaces.
