The Civil Division, U.S. Department of Justice is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Management Analyst who has recently graduated within the last 2 years to assist in meeting responsibilities of the Office of the Executive Officer (OEO) as it relates to handling correspondence and special projects.

Duties

As a GS- 0343-9, your typical work assignments may include the following: Assisting in preparing written correspondence on behalf of the Office of the Executive Officer (OEO). Assisting with review of pending regulations and Department reports. Responding to public inquiries received telephonically and treating the public with a high degree of diplomacy, providing helpful information where possible. Assisting other members of OEO during peak seasons and as otherwise needed. Applying a high level of talent in the use of plain language, grammar, correct spelling, as well as a proficiency in formatting, use of legal citations, and information presentation. Providing non-complex legal and administrative support to the Executive Officer and OEO attorneys on a wide range of legal or legal-related topics, including appropriations, budget and financial management, federal employment and labor law, litigation, information and records management, security, contracts and procurement, travel, and delegations of authority. Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen or National.
  • You will be required to complete a pre-employment security investigation and background check which includes a drug screening.
  • Selective Service registration is required for males born on, or after, December 31st 1959. Those not registered should have an approved exemption on file.
  • The first year of the Recent Graduates Program is a trial period.
  • Must meet eligibility and qualification requirements by closing date of the announcement.

Qualifications

To be eligible, applicants must apply within two years of degree or certificate completion (except for veterans precluded from doing so due to their military service obligation, who have up to six years after degree completion to apply). Transcripts MUST reflect the degree/ certificate program and the degree conferred date (official transcripts are required upon selection). In addition to the eligibility requirements for the Pathways Recent Graduate Program, you must also meet the following qualifications requirements in order to qualify for the Management Analyst. To qualify for the GS-343-9 Management Analyst (Recent Graduate) position, you must demonstrate that you have one of the following: 1) Master's or equivalent graduate degree 2) 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B or JD, if related 3) one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 performing such work as assisting in preparing written correspondence, responding to public inquiries, performing factual research, and analyzing documents. 4) combination of education and experience. A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 36. Add the two percentages. You MUST meet all qualification requirements by the closing date of this announcement. Education
