You will serve as a ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in the PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT of NAVFAC SOUTHWEST.

Duties

You will prepare technical drawings for projects (e.g., buildings, structures, roads, grounds, utilities) to assist the engineering and facilities staff. You will contribute to the development of improved techniques to support engineering project planning. You will use computer aided software , design, and drafting systems (e.g., AutoCAD, SpecsIntact, MS Excel, RS Means) to prepare engineering drawings, specifications and estimates. You will use database management and tracking systems (e.g., Maximo or similar systems) to track workflow and equipment. You will create written technical documentation of engineering analysis work, data compilation, reports, or research using computer software applications. You will conduct pre-final and final inspections to ensure completed work complies with contract requirements.

  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

Qualifications

GS-11 position: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Analyzing and interpreting drawings and contract specifications; 2) Inspecting facilities and appurtenances for sound structural, operational and safety, and making recommendations for corrective measures; 3) Maintaining all project date in Maximo and eProjects systems; and 4) Preparing detailed government estimates and drawings for various maintenance repair and construction projects.
