You will serve as a SECURITY SPECIALIST in the MISSION SUPPORT DIVISION of NAVAL RESEARCH LABORATORY CONUS.
Duties
You will make recommendations on all aspects of the overall security program for NRLSSC including planning, developing, and implementing security policies, programs, and procedures.
You will be responsible for the management, coordination, administration, and implementation of all security programs, ensuring that they are in full compliance with requirements.
You will provide guidance to secure area custodians and users in the development of risk assessments and other elements of the security program.
You will investigate any documents security related violations, report them, and monitor implementation of command decisions regarding corrective action.
You will ensure threats to security, possible compromises, and other security violations or infractions are reported, documented, and when necessary investigated vigorously.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- This position is considered Key/Non-Combat Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support of the expeditionary requirements in other than combat or combat support situations.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least three years of general experience that includes one year of experience equivalent to the next lower grade level or pay band (GS 5-10 or NO-02) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector in order to perform the duties of a Security Specialist. Specialized experience must include some or all of the following: 1) Demonstrating knowledge of DoD and DoN GENSER security concepts, principles, and practices to review, independently analyze, and resolve difficult security problems; 2) Working with multiple security programs and objectives to implement national level guidance and assign responsibilities for resolving conflicting security issues or similar work; 3) Exhibiting knowledge of Information security for application to technical document reviews, foreign release, and distribution procedures applicable tov a complex research laboratory environment; and 4) Demonstrating the ability to communicate both orally and in writing with personnel at various levels in the chain of command.

Education
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
or
3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
or
LL.M., if related
