You will serve as a IT SPECIALIST (SYSADMIN) in the CYBERF SECURITY WORK FORCE SUPPORT, INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AND CYBER SECURITY DIVISION of NAVAIRWARCENWPNDIV CHINA LAKE.

Duties

You will operate as a System Administrator with a UNIX / Linux concentration. You will be supporting a mix of Windows and Linux operating systems (setup, account privileges, software installation and configuration, security patches and updates, anti-virus, etc.). You will configure systems to include building desktop computer systems and servers, adjusting BIOS settings, driver installation and troubleshooting, and Unix/Linux shell commands. You will perform technical research assignments, maintains equipment, drafts technical reports, and responds to other miscellaneous requests.

• This position is designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position. You must obtain and maintain the credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 for specialty area 451 level Intermediate within 12 months of appointment.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of information technology related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined: 1. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. 4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. In addition to demonstrating the four competencies above, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (DS-03) pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate some or all of the following: 1) Demonstrating experience as a System Administrator with a UNIX/LINUS concentration; 2) Supporting a mix of Windows and Linux environment; 3) Configuring systems to include building desktop computer systems and servers, adjusting BIOS settings, driver installation and troubleshooting, and Unix/Linux shell commands; 4) Operating with Red Hat Virtualization, Systems of Systems Test Environment (SOSTE), and HPC/Cluster. Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management.

or

3 full years (54 hours) of progressively higher graduate level education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management; or, graduate education that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
