This position is located at the White River Junction VA Medical Center. The purpose of this position is to independently perform all administrative duties for the Chief of Staff office.
Duties

This position involves a multi-grade career ladder. The major duties listed below represent the full performance level of GS-8. At the GS-7 grade level, you will perform assignments of a more limited scope and with less independence. You will progressively acquire the background necessary to perform at the full performance level of GS-8. Promotion is at the discretion of the supervisor and is contingent upon satisfactory performance, availability of higher level work, and availability of funds.
Uses technical or professional skill in creating new approaches to work processes.
Exercises independent judgment and makes decisions concerning the organization, development, coordination, and execution of priorities and related tasks.
Prepares meeting agendas, takes and transcribes meeting minutes using various computer programs.
Reviews internal and external correspondence and reports for format, grammar, punctuation, spelling and obvious errors with incorrect material being presented to supervisor rarely.
Manages the Chief of Staff's schedule and calendar utilizing MS Outlook.
Schedules travel and prepares travel authority paperwork and all necessary travel reservations in advance.
Screens and handles Chief of Staff's incoming calls from both internal and external sources, some of which may be of a confidential or sensitive nature.
Assigns action and communicates urgent items using discretion.
Maintains professional, courteous, productive and effective work relationships with all employees as well as managers and other employees throughout the Center to facilitate the accomplishment of the work as an organization.
Creates and maintain all office records/documents tracking in an organized manner.
Serves as Unit Timekeeper for staff who report directly to the Chief of Staff's Office.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm

Qualifications
GS-7 Specialized Experience Requirement: At least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-6) in the Federal service. Specialized experience required for this grade level: Experience performing administrative duties such as receiving calls and visitors, managing supervisor's calendar to include scheduling appointments and meetings, preparing agendas and meeting minutes, reviewing correspondence for correct grammar, format, and typographical accuracy, making travel arrangements, performing timekeeping and/or maintaining document tracking.
GS-8 Specialized Experience Requirement: At least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-7) in the Federal service. Specialized experience required for this grade level: Experience in an office setting performing administrative duties such as receiving calls and visitors, managing supervisor's calendar, scheduling appointments and meetings, preparing agendas and meeting minutes, reviewing correspondence for correct grammar, format, and typographical accuracy, making travel arrangements, performing timekeeping and/or creating and maintain document tracking.
