This position, located within the White River Junction VA Medical Center in White River Junction, VT, works under the general supervision of the medical center director, who outlines program objectives to be achieved and provides general policy guidance.
Duties

Receives and screens all telephonic and personal contacts for the associate medical center director communication with diverse groups of staff, patients and their families.
Uses tact, diplomacy, courteousness and helpfulness to all persons approaching or calling the office for assistance.
Uses exceptional interpersonal communication skills are imperative when performing the tasks assigned to the associate directors office and ability to openly communicate with all staff.
Uses broad based knowledge and proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, MS Outlook, Internet, and Intranet.
Uses ability to prepare and take minutes and independently compile information using various computer programs.
Uses skill as a typist and knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation and required formats to produce reports, memos and emails for the facility.
Provides the customer with consistent information according to established policies and procedures.
Must be adept in both oral and written communication skills, thereby facilitating clear and concise communication with a diverse clientele.
Handles conflict and problems in dealing with the customer constructively and appropriately.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm

Qualifications
To qualify for this position at the GS-9 level, you must at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-8) in the federal service that has given me the particular knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of a Secretary, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience is providing administrative support of a large organization by conducting research, preparing statistical reports, handling information requests and preparing correspondence for executive level personnel signature; coordinating and scheduling appointments and meetings; serving as a liaison with management and support staff; and utilizing office automation software such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). At this level, you must be able to work independently, have excellent organizational skills, as well as, exceptional judgment and decision-making skills. NOTE: Experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title, duties, month and year start/end dates AND hours worked per week.
