About the Position: This position is located at the Army Medical Center Madigan, Tacoma Washington. The incumbent will work under the general supervision of the Chief, Patient Administration Division (PAD) and the Deputy Chief, PAD who also serves as the Department Administrative Officer (AO).

Duties

The incumbent will provide support in civilian personnel issues to the Administrative Officer (AO) on matters pertaining to a variety of requests for personnel actions, civilian awards, appraisals, job descriptions, union policy, etc. Assist in providing oversight, continuity of services, and smooth workflow concerning a variety of civilian personnel actions. Assist with in-processing of new employees to the department. Prepare reports, composing and/or editing data and correspondence submitted by Branch supervisors. Provide advice, counsel, or instruction to employees on both work and administrative matters. Assist the Administrative Officer ( AO) in planning and managing the annual operating budget consisting of appropriated and reimbursable funds . Create and use spreadsheets to input and monitor funding status to ensure no over obligations occur.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires a qualified typist 40 words per minute with three or fewer errors.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.

Specialized Experience: I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service which includes performing clerical and administrative support functions such as providing support for a variety of civilian personnel actions, assisting with planning and managing annual budgets, preparing and monitoring award nominations, processing temporary duty requests (TDY) using a variety of computer systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Human Resources, Business Administration. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Computer SkillsCustomer Service (Clerical/Technical)Manages and Organizes InformationManages Resources Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
