This position is covered under the Federal Excepted Service under Title 10 United States Code, Section 1746 and Title 5, Code of Federal Regulations Schedule A, Section 213.3106(h).
Duties
-Develops, plans, coordinates, and evaluates cybersecurity training/education courses, methods, and techniques based on instructional needs and in the context of Defense acquisition programs.
-Develop, tailor and deliver interactive workshops for specific DoD customers across the Department in order to support Defense acquisition programs and personnel with Cybersecurity and Cyber Warfare learning and consulting efforts and products.
-Deliver presentations, case studies, and simulations at DAU and customer facilities (classified and unclassified), in the classroom and at conferences. This includes facilitating student discussion, critical thinking/problem solving as well as analyzing student assessments and providing student counseling to insure the highest degree of learning.
-Integrate cybersecurity course material into new and existing DAU classes and career fields.
-Maintain cybersecurity expertise in emerging areas.
-Teaching and curriculum development responsibilities include virtual, DAU classroom, and teaching at customer facilities. Offerings may include:
Cybersecurity workshops
Cyber Training Range workshops (offensive, defensive, and advanced cybersecurity topics)
Cyber Table Top facilitator workshops
Tailored cybersecurity training based on customer requests and needs
On-line cybersecurity courses
Other acquisition courses based on career field certification and demand (examples: IT Engineering, Test)
Program Protection workshops
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Faculty Duties:
Creates and/or delivers learning assets and content as needed, and coordinates with partner divisions that manage related curriculum, or that control DAU processes and tools.
Stays abreast of changes and trends in primary functional area, continuously researching, gaining and sharing knowledge in federal communities of practice.
Pursues and maintains digital and data analysis fluency that align with DAU and primary functional area best practices in public and private industry.
Maintains currency in, and actively uses university technology, digital and social media platforms.
Focus on the needs of the customer in a modern learning and business environment that is subject to continual change with respect to platforms, networks and delivery
Serves as a thinking partner with stakeholders and customers, continuously improving product and service delivery to provide the right knowledge and service the point of need through synchronous and asynchronous methods.
Builds relationships and collaborates with peers and program management leaders from all organizations within the area of responsibility.
Elicits feedback to shape the policies, processes and procedures that produce a frictionless experience for the customers and stakeholders.

- Incumbent may be required to obtain and maintain an appropriate security clearance
- You may be required to serve a two (2) year probationary period.
- The incumbent of this position may be required to work overtime, irregular shifts, and/or on the weekend.
- Work may require travel away from the normal duty station on commercial aircraft.
- The incumbent will have to obtain acquisition certification within 36, 48, or 60 months in the Acquisition Engineering and Technical Management or Test and Evaluation Career Category.
- Must achieve 80 hours of Continuous Learning Points (CLPs) every two years, in accordance with Department of Defense Instruction (DoDI) 5000.66, Defense Acquisition Workforce Education, Training, Experience, and Career Development Program.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position at a respective band/grade level, you must demonstrate in your resume/application that you possess the required years of specialized experience equivalent to one band/grade-level lower (or equivalent) to include having specialized experience directly relating to the specific duties of the position, and demonstrate that you have the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully with the experience that demonstrated a practical knowledge.
Specialized experience areas include, but are not limited to:
Extensive, in-depth knowledge of current DoD, National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), and government-wide cybersecurity laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and guidance.
Knowledge of "state-of-the-art" network and/or platform IT architecture designs, interfaces, protocols, practices, and principles as they relate and interface with information management systems, cybersecurity and DoD acquisition systems.
In addition to the above qualifications, the following has been determined to be Quality Ranking Factors (QRF). Applicants who possess QRFs are considered to be Well-Qualified:
BS or MS degree in a technical discipline such as, cybersecurity, or engineering.
Acquisition Certification in the Information Technology or Engineering Career Field.
Cybersecurity Certifications meeting DoD Directive 8570.01-M Level III standards, such as CISSP, CCSP, Cloud Plus, Security Plus, CEH, and others.
Experience in managing software development projects using AGILE methods is highly desired.
Experience implementing Defense Enterprise Services Management Framework (DESMF) is highly desired.
Experience with Cloud Security is highly desired
List any professional certifications such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), CompTIA Security+, IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL), ISO/IEC/IEEE 12207:2017 Systems and software engineering - Software life cycle processes and Defense Acquisition Workforce (DAWIA) Certifications.
Experience, consulting, and/or teaching ability and at least two areas related to cybersecurity. These areas may include but are not limited to the following:

Threat-based Engineering
Information Systems Security Manager/Officer/Engineer (ISSM, ISSO, ISSE)
Adversarial and cooperative testing (Red teams and/or blue teams)
DEVSECOPS
MBSE development using Cameo Systems Modeler for Cybersecurity.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
2210 Occupational Requirement: A bachelor's degree from an accredited education institution authorized to grant baccalaureate degrees in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management, or a degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one of more of the fields identified above and required the develop of adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
DAU Faculty Pay Band Minimum Education and Specialized Experience Requirements:
- DAU Pay Band A (AD-11) (Equivalent to a GS-09 through GS-13 General Schedule grade equivalency): Minimum Education and Specialized Experience:
- Basic requirements for Band A include a minimum of a Bachelor level degree and up to four years of experience in the appropriate functional area.
- DAU Pay Band B (AD-12) (Equivalent to a GS-14 General Schedule grade equivalency): Minimum Education and Specialized Experience:
- Basic requirements for Band B include a minimum of a Bachelor level degree in an appropriate discipline and a minimum of six years of experience in the appropriate functional area. Advanced degrees are highly desired in Band B.
- DAU Pay Band C (AD-13) (Equivalent to a GS-15 General Schedule grade equivalency): Minimum Education and Specialized Experience:
- Basic requirements for Band C include a minimum of a Bachelor level degree in an appropriate discipline and a minimum of eight years of experience in the appropriate functional area. Advanced degrees are highly desired in Band C.
