This Program Support Assistant position is within the Prosthetic and Sensory Aids Service at the Providence VA Healthcare System, located in Providence, RI. It is full-time at 40 hours per week.
Duties
The incumbent serves as a Program Support Assistant for the Prosthetic and Sensory Aids Services (P&SAS) at the Providence VA Healthcare System. The employee actively assists in the day-to-day operations of P&SAS.
Duties include, but are not limited too:
Ensures that all inventory items issued to beneficiaries, clinicians, and all items mailed to residences or other VA facilities are appropriately documented.
Issues inventory items to beneficiaries through multiple avenues, including, but not limited to in-person, through VHA clinics, and through various external distribution sources (e.g., USPS, UPS, FedEx, VA Mail Room, etc.).
Responsible for verifying that the item(s) requested on the Prosthetics Consult matches the item(s) issued out of inventory.
Assists with the assembly, unloading, distribution, and delivery of Prosthetics inventory supplies.
Occasionally moves items from one location to another and light lifting.
Assists the inventory manager with inventory control, storage, distribution, cataloging or supply identification systems or other related supply activities include those associated with mechanized or manual supply accounting systems.
Coordinates appropriate action and follow-up on open and pending Suspense Records.
Prepares agenda, books conference rooms, coordinates attendance and takes meeting minutes as assigned.
May have timekeeping or backup timekeeping duties.
Other duties as assigned.
Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday/Full-time, 40 hours per week.

This position is covered by locality-based comparability pay.
Current and former Federal employees must submit copies of their most recent SF-50, (Notice of Personnel Action). The SF-50 must identify the position title, series, grade, step, tenure and type of service (Competitive or Excepted). In some cases, more than one SF-50 may be required to show a higher grade previously held.

To qualify for the GS-4 level, applicants must meet the following:
One year of General Experience: Progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled.
OR,
Education: 2 years of education above high school. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. (Transcript must be submitted)
To qualify for the GS-5 level, applicants must meet one of the following:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-4) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Creates and maintains files of agency regulations, guidelines, directive and manuals; Performs general clerical tasks such as maintaining calendars, recording appointments, arranging for meetings and miscellaneous conference and administrative details, plus following up on action items with appropriate staff members, independently; Monitor, track and manage program operating budget and invoices; Develops and maintain spreadsheets data with patient information such as admission/discharge, received program services and associated service vendor information plus patient satisfaction reviews.

Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have a bachelor's or equivalent graduate level education or four full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree (Transcripts must be submitted)
OR,
Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level: education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience. (Transcripts must be submitted)

Physical Requirements: The work requires no special physical demands. It may involve some walking, standing, bending, or carrying of light items.
