You will serve as a Engineering Technician (Electrical) in the Power and Lighting Branch (276), Engineering Division, Engineering and Planning Department of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Duties
You will provide technical guidance for and prepare procedure for conducting tests on various electrical equipment and systems.
You will determine special equipment required to perform test and instruments needed to acquire operating data and the extent of testing to be performed based on the amount and type of work accomplished on equipment.
You will prepare and review all drawings, material specifications, test procedures, for technical adequacy and compliance with specifications and quality requirements.
You will make investigations of electrical failures or damages and prepare reports including remedial action to prevent further occurrences.
You will prepare specifications and provide direction for the procurement of special material and services ensuring specifications meet requirements to permit competitive bidding.
Requirements

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience preparing engineering drawings and technical documents for complex alteration projects on naval vessels.
Experience applying judgement and a mastery of concepts, principles, and practices of Electrical Engineering.
Experience applying electrical concepts and principles.
Experience serving as the technical authority on a full range of shipboard electrical systems and components.
Experience evaluating and applying the latest developments and techniques in solving problems not readily treatable by traditional or accepted methods.
