This position is located in the Epigenetics and Stem Cell Biology Laboratory (ESCBL), within the Division of Intramural Research (DIR), National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS).
Incumbent will serve as an Administrative Specialist in support of NIEHS' mission and programs and performs varied administrative work in the following areas: budgeting and financial management, procurement and contracting, personnel administration, travel, supply, and/or property management.
Duties
Performs varied administrative work in the following areas: budgeting and financial management, procurement and contracting, personnel administration, travel, supply, and/or property management.
Performs office management and/or program support work such as planning, research, analysis, correspondence control, communication, and/or liaison.
Assists managers with personnel related actions, including the referral of job candidates, the selection process, and notification of applicants.
Provides general administrative support related to supplies, property, or moves/modifications, working with other offices to arrange and coordinate such activities.
Maintains liaison and communications with persons and groups from within and outside the organization.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship requirement or proof of being a U.S. National must be met by closing date.

Qualifications
In order to qualify for a Administrative Specialist GS-0301 position at the GS-09 level, you must have:
A. completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree, or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or an LL.B. or J.D., if related; OR
B. 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: participating in the formulation of annual operating budgets; reconciling expenditures against allocated funding; providing guidance, assistance, and training to purchase cardholders; reviewing requisitions to determine that proper specifications or purchase descriptions are included in solicitation documents; participating with higher graded staff in the procurement of technical items; coordinating the preparation of personnel actions and tracking the status of various personnel actions. OR
C. a combination of post baccalaureate education related to the position and experience that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position.
