This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: The HQ, US MEPCOM, North Chicago, IL, is a jointly staffed command, staffed by representatives of all branches of the Armed Forces and through its 66 military processing locations determines if applicants are qualified for enlistment based on standards set by each of the service.

Duties

As a Health System Specialist, you will: Coordinate the implementation of new policies and procedures in support of system updates, processing changes, and training in the MEPS. Compile and transform data into useful information to enable management to make informed decisions to provide effective medical examination and overall health assessment. Prepare study reports and findings that include substantive and innovative recommendations to improve effectiveness, efficiency, and productivity of healthcare programs. Perform professional work using mathematical, statistical, and econometric methods. Utilize best practices in the areas of assessment and continuous improvement to improve medical processing of applicants into the Armed Forces.

**Telework eligible position - Position has an official duty location of North Chicago, IL and is eligible for Situational Telework at the discretion of the Command. This position is NOT eligible for remote work (remote duty location). If telework is approved, selectees will be required to report to their official duty location as outlined in their telework agreement.** Temporary Position: This is a temporary position not to exceed 1 year, it may be extended up to a total of 3 years. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled including: Analyzing healthcare program metrics to recommend improvements and optimize medical processing operations; Designing statistical techniques to perform data collection; Writing study results and preparing/presenting briefings to leadership on results of studies; Persuading stakeholders to adopt new recommendations for healthcare program improvements; Utilizing methods, techniques, and tools to analyze program, organizational, and mission performance including methods that deliver key performance information (i.e., comparative, trend, diagnostic, root cause, predictive). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS- 11 or above). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
