Duties
Supervises a civilian and contractor team conducting security operations, like Communications Security, Special Access Programs and Sensitive Compartmented Information. Develops, maintains and executes the team’s budget and secure contracting.
Demonstrated mastery in Information, Industrial, Physical and Personnel Security. Supervises the development, implementation and management, of these security programs and reviews, monitors and enforces the programs’ policy compliance.
Serves as the Program Security Officer. Oversees duties like Top Secret accountability and control of collateral, SAP and SCI information. Exercises organizational classification/declassification on behalf of an original classification authority.
Develops and conducts security indoctrination briefings/debriefings and develops and implements security and awareness education programs to ensure DoD Information Security compliance.
Advises leadership and senior decision makers within the government on new developments and advances in security techniques and evolving technology.
Develop and present effective, persuasive presentations; answer technical questions and prepare written reports, recommendations and analyses at the most senior levels within and outside the Federal government.

Qualifications
To qualify for a Supervisory Security Specialist, your resume and supporting documentation must support:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-15 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes:
Advises top level agency senior executives, security, and subject-matter managers on Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIF) and Special Access Program Facilities (SAPF), including control of information contained at the Top Secret, SCI, and SAP levels.
Serves as the Program Security Officer for multiple and unique programs supporting a national-level effort.
Serves as the expert in analyzing, planning, scheduling, and coordinating the development of national level policy and direction.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
