Duties

If selected for this position, you will serve as a Administrative Services Assistant in the United States Attorney's Office, Western District of Virginia office. Typical work assignments will include: Providing advice and assistance to employees regarding standard employee benefits problems and issues. Providing technical assistance and processing support to budget analyst in a variety of program areas. Reviewing and analyzing budget reports, classifying errors and taking corrective action to balance errors. Performing various procurement support duties involving the use of different and unrelated procedural methods. Maintaining property records and conducting inventory. Provides administrative support during office / building renovations and repair or redesign of USAO facilities. Receiving, opening, date stamping, reading, classifying, and routing mail. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

Requirements

  • You must be a U.S. Citizen or National
  • Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation
  • You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable
  • If selected, you may be required to complete a one year probationary period.
  • You must meet all qualification requirements upon the closing date of this announcement.

Qualifications

GS-7: To be eligible at the GS-7 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-6 level. Specialized experience is defined as experience performing a variety of administrative support services in support of a business or program office including: Providing technical assistance and processing support to human resources specialists, reviewing personnel actions to determine nature of staffing and placement request; reviewing and analyzing budget reports, classifying errors, and taking corrective action; maintaining electronic databases to track information and suspense items; purchasing supplies, equipment, and services; and reviewing incoming and outgoing correspondence and other administrative documents. To be qualified, you must type at least 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. (A typing test may later be required.) Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies. If your agency has notified you in writing that you are a displaced employee eligible for ICTAP consideration, you may receive selection priority if: 1) this vacancy is within your ICTAP eligibility; 2) you apply under the instructions in the announcement; and 3) you are found well-qualified for this vacancy. To be well-qualified, you must satisfy all qualification requirements for the vacant position and receive a score of 85 or better on established ranking criteria. You must provide proof of eligibility to receive selection priority.
