This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Center for Medicare & Medicaid Innovation (CMMI), Research & Rapid Cycle Evaluation Group (RREG), Division of Special Populations Research (DSPR).
As the Division Director, GS-0101-15, you will direct staff involved in the design, analysis, development, monitoring, and evaluation of models/demonstrations and research studies in special Medicare and Medicaid populations.
Duties
Directs, designs and implements intramural and extramural research and evaluations of models/demonstrations for state-based initiatives, Medicare and Medicaid dual eligible, and other special populations.
Advises the Group Director and executives of various CMS components in the preparation of short, intermediate, and long-range plans for the improvement of CMS programs.
Maintains liaison with stakeholders and subject matter experts within the healthcare industry to ensure continuous improvements are made to CMS processes.
Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjusts short term priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work.

In order to qualify for the GS-15, you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include:
Managing health service research relating to Medicare, Medicaid or the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP); AND
Leading healthcare studies in areas such as use of services, access to care, eligibility of care, outcomes of care, spending on care, or coordination of care; AND
Evaluating projects for impacts on cost, health, or utilization to recommend policy changes to leadership.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Time-in-Grade: To be eligible, current Federal employees must have served at least 52 weeks (one year) at the next lower grade level from the position/grade level(s) to which they are applying.
Education
Education Requirement: In addition to meeting the qualification requirements, all candidates must have the following educational requirements:
Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
or
Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
or
Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
