This position is located in the Division of Clinical Services, Radiology Services Branch, Northern Navajo Medical Center (NNMC), Shiprock Service Unit, Shiprock, New Mexico. The purpose of this position is to provide patient services and additional program support duties for the Radiology Department. Incumbent reports directly to Supervisory Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist

Duties

Assists with triage of patients by obtaining medical information, screening, weights, and monitoring the flow of Radiology patients. Completes records, logs, and reports to patients and activities according to Service Unit policies and practices. Schedules and received patients for examinations, explains procedure, and provide instructions to patients. Assists radiology staff in the orientation of new personnel and with sterile procedures. Performs program support duties, maintains various unit logs and patient census, Answers the telephone and provides routine information. Ensure supply area is kept stocked and clutter-free. Cleans used instruments and disposes of waste materials. Maintains a clean and safe work environment. Performs other duties as assigned. Work Schedule: Full Time 40 hours and Part time,

Qualifications

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Individual Occupational Requirements Specialized Experience (for positions at GS-4 and above): Positions in this series range widely in type and include support duties to medical or health personnel such as audiologists, speech pathologists, medical officers, and optometrists. Therefore, technician experience is experience that required application of the knowledge, methods, and techniques of the position to be filled. or Education and Training: For GS-5: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree, with major study or at least 24 semester hours in subjects directly related to the position. In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Performing both clerical and clinical duties in a medical/healthcare environment; answering and directing phone calls; scheduling appointments; documenting medical records; and taking and recording vital signs; and/or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled. This experience must be detailed in your resume to receive credit. OR Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with major study or at least 24 semester hours in subjects directly related to the position. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business or technical school, junior college, college, or university for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. One year of full-time undergraduate study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business or technical school. You must have a combination of specialized experience and education as described that demonstrates your ability to perform the duties of this position. Transcripts required, and experience must be detailed in your resume to receive credit. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
