Position is located at the Navajo Area Indian Health Service, Northern Navajo Medical Center, Division of Community Health, in Shiprock, New Mexico. The purpose of this position is to support and assist in the coordination of domestic violence awareness, education, and prevention programs within healthcare and community settings.
Duties
Assists with patient visits and conducts an assortment of patient care to domestic violence patients.
Organizes and works with the health/community teams to plan, develop and implement a domestic violence program. T
Gathers information, interviews, and follow up with patient regarding history and complaint.
Attends specified Domestic Violence patient care meetings with providers to determine health status and course of patient care services.
Provides support, motivates and maintains interest and involvement in Domestic Violence issues.
With supervisory assistance, collects data on project services and community awareness; provides periodic reports to communities, schools and advisory groups.
Networks and assist with program planning and reporting of community-led public health and development projects.
Performs frequent quality controls on patient care equipment to ensure patient care equipment is functioning correctly and assure accuracy.
Manage supplies and equipment inventory by monitoring, ordering, and storage to ensure adequate amounts of supplies and equipment to provide safe quality patient care services.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Specialized Experience (for positions at GS-4 and above): Positions in this series range widely in type and include support duties to medical or health personnel such as audiologists, speech pathologists, medical officers, and optometrists. Therefore, technician experience is experience that required application of the knowledge, methods, and techniques of the position to be filled.

Education and Training
For GS-5: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree, with major study or at least 24 semester hours in subjects directly related to the position.
In addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below-
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Examples: Ability to assess and react to individuals related to Sexual Assault, able to use de-escalation techniques if needed, able to respond to individual using situational awareness. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, able to deal with a variety of people and interact with individuals, families, communities and the public.
OR
Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have successfully completed a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree, with major study or at least 24 semester hours in subjects directly related to the Health Technician position.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: Possess equivalent combinations of successfully completed education and specialized experience as described above that is directly related to the work of the Health Technician position.
