About the position: This position will be assigned to the Information Technology Office Shaw AFB, SC.
Duties
Provides technical solutions, installations, repairs, and disposals of IT components. Monitors network systems to ensure hardware and software are functioning properly and operational standards are met. Uses and modifies established computer techniques to identify and promptly resolve network-related problems within the organization by utilizing sound judgment and applying appropriate corrective actions. Performs Non-Appropriated Fund unique system software maintenance as required. Conducts squadron level computer hardware, software maintenance and IT component inventories. Assists in the administration of new user requests for computer hardware and software, ensure the facility environment, system requirements, and the infrastructure is available to support the request. Coordinates with base agencies and contractors to ensure compliance standards are met. Ensure virus protection software if present and the latest virus updates are loaded and have been thoroughly scanned for any viruses on all activity servers and workstations. Provides customer training and assistance for IT systems. Performs other related duties as assigned. Performs basic helpdesk duties such as receive visitors and incoming calls; create and maintain user accounts and records; provide new user orientation and training. Administer the unit computer security program.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Qualifying Experience:
Have thorough knowledge of computer hardware, software applications, and commonly used networking protocols. Have the ability to analyze and resolve computer hardware, software and networking problems. Have the ability to safeguard and maintain various information technology assets. Have detailed and specific knowledge of the work process, data models, work rules, file/database designs and computer/operating procedures of assigned programs. Also, the ability to recognize areas of interaction and overlap between proposed and existing systems. Have the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Satisfactorily complete secret security clearance. Preferred at least A+, and or Security+, and/or Network +, or must obtain within 6 months. Requires satisfactory completion of a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI). Have and maintain a current driver's license. Be able to occasionally work evenings and weekends and be on call.

Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
