You will serve as a Technology and Support Assistant in Shop 06 of PSNS and IMF.

Duties

You will perform administrative, evaluative, and technical work and IT coordination in support of the work of the Shop. You will use work-tracking software to monitor the maintenance status of shipyard assets. You will submit customer requests for corrective and preventative maintenance via business software applications. You will maintain up-to-date knowledge of current best practices for maintenance requests and asset tracking. You will uses business software to monitor and maintain databases of available and checked-out tooling, and process new, lost, or delinquent tooling as required. You will generate job plans for scheduled preventative maintenance and schedule preventative maintenance to reflect correct periodicity for individual pieces of equipment. You will ensure asset tracking software processes are in alignment with local and corporate instructions. You will communicate deficiency trends with Shop/Code management regarding trends in non compliance with requirements. You will organize, collect, analyze and present information related to current and future program/projects which may include, periodic changes in workloads, budgets, staffing levels, and/or periodic changes in work processes or program objectives.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Work requires some walking, standing, bending or carrying/lifting of light items.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: performing administrative and clerical work such as coordinating information technology requests, compiling data to generate reports, maintaining databases and tracking information or material requests in support of the work of a production shop.
