This position reports to the Homeless Programs Manager. Work assignment is specifically to the Grant & Per Diem (GPO), Housing and Urban Development-VA Supportive Housing (HUD-VASH), Veterans Justice Outreach (VJO) and Health Care for Homeless Veterans (HCHV) Programs.
Duties
Major duties include but are not limited to:
Performing front desk duties, including checking in Veterans for same-day services and appointments within the Homeless Programs.
Acting as timekeeper within Social Work Services.
Providing clerical support, including answering the phone and transferring calls appropriately, referring visitors appropriately, and providing information about the office and standard operating procedures.
Performing data entry, collection and analysis
Processing incoming and outgoing materials such as, correspondence, faxes, reports, memorandums, and other forms of communication.
Composing, editing and typing basic correspondence.
Preparing various personnel actions and recruitment forms to be submitted to Human Resources including official documents for incentive awards, SAA awards, Standards Board packages, etc.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement, 09/20/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 grade level position, applicants must have held a GS-05 position or higher in the Federal service or have previously held a Federal non-GS position equivalent to the GS-05 or higher for at least one year. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.
Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade, GS-05, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Preparing various personnel action and recruitment forms to be submitted to Human Resources including official documents for incentive awards, SAA awards, Standards Board packages; serving as the Learning Management System (TMS) administrator for the service, coordinating and tracking staff trainings; purchasing a variety of standard retail items, soliciting bids, making commitments and confirming purchase orders; acting as timekeeper. Applicants wishing to receive credit for specialized experience must clearly indicate, on their resume, the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
Proficiency Requirement: In addition to meeting Specialized Experience the following is required: Typing Proficiency: 40 words per minute typing speed. Applicants may meet this requirement by presenting a certificate of proficiency from a school or other organization authorized to issue such certificates or by self-certifying their proficiency.
Physical Requirements: The work area is usually an adequately lighted, heated and ventilated office of medical facility setting. The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions. The sedentary and may require some walking, standing, bending, carrying and/or lifting of light items like papers or books. The work requires light to moderate levels/times performing keyboarding to prepare correspondence.
