This position is located with the Education Service within the Nursing Service of the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin.
Major Duties:
Identifies specialties within the hospital where continuing education is required or desirable.
Reviews local, national and VA policies to gather information on education requirements.
Develops Training plans and identifies the most effective training method appropriate to the audience.
Creates training materials, including computer based training courses, present classes or make arrangement for virtual and in person training.
Coordinates New Employee Orientation (NEO) training schedules, ensures equipment and rooms are available and prepares advertisements for NEO classes.
Performs database administration and management of training activities.
Reports training status to managers and employees.
Develop policy and procedure to correlate hospital training needs with laws and accrediting agency requirements.
Analyze trends refection in education requests to identify future program needs.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 7:30am - 4:00pm

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 09/20/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS 11 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS 9. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
Education and Experience:
GS-11 LEVEL: You must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-9) in the Federal Service that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that demonstrated a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction. Examples of specialized experience may include but is not limited to: experience that demonstrated a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include: Teaching or instructing in an adult education program, secondary school, college, military installation, or industrial establishment in the appropriate field(s); Supervising or administering a training program; Development or review of training/course materials, aids, devices, etc., and evaluation of training results; Work in the occupation or subject-matter field of the position to be filled that required training or instructing others on a regular basis.

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements:
Most often position is sedentary but requires some walking and prolonged standing when teaching classroom style.
