Duties
You will prepare administrative documents of findings and follows up on correction of deficiencies to completion. Develops and directs action plans to correct undesirable conditions.
You will encompass unsafe and unhealthful procedures to include the administrative responsibilities associated fall protection, personnel qualifications, and respiratory program to include medical surveillance and fit testing procedures.
You will install inspections identifying fire safety, AED operating conditions, other occupational and health assigned tasks, and operations risk management.
You will independently interpret all required federal, state compliance regulations to include military special assignments.
You will provide advice and prepare written procedure for implementation of safety prevention activities including monitoring medical surveillance and rapid reporting of mishaps.
You will complete explosive safety assessments and inspections of magazines and firing range areas, to include occupational safety core safety services support.
You will conduct new employee safety orientation and knowledge on adding duty tasks to ESAMS module.
You will attend meeting prior to construction projects to ensure provisions have been included in the contract meeting required safety conditions prior to work assignments.
You will assist in areas relating to safety core inspections and explosive safety awareness and training.

- You must meet the qualifications and be certified to carry a firearm. You will need to maintain firearm proficiency.
- This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
- This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.

Qualifications
GS-09: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: As a Tactical Safety Specialist you will assist in the investigating, analyzing, and developing countermeasures for high risk activities for tactical training exercises and/or contingency operation maneuvers; provide guidance on safety principles, practices, procedures, laws, and precedents on occupational and operational activities; prepare written responses to inquiries to justify actions or decisions or to provide resolutions to safety issues; and communicate with diverse activities (e.g., fire prevention, law enforcement, medical, contracting, or others) to execute safety and occupational health program objectives.
GS-11: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-9 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: As the Tactical Safety Specialist you will investigate, analyze, and develop countermeasures for high risk activities for tactical training exercises and/or contingency operation maneuvers; provide guidance on safety principles, practices, procedures, laws, and precedents on occupational and operational activities to justify changes in mission operations; and conducts out briefs, prepares written reports to provide recommendations to a diverse audience on a multi safety program.

ADDITIONAL CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT:
This position requires regular exposure to industrial machines and tactical equipment in operation, hazardous materials including gases and flammable liquids, and construction hazards.
You will be required to participate in military exercises in extreme temperatures, exposure to dust, high level noises, wind, sand, fumes, and smoke.
You will be required to attend and successfully complete the Army Career Program (CP-12) Safety Internship or approved equivalent within one year unless waiver is granted by the Director of Safety Department. Failure to complete may result in removal from the position.
You will be required to complete a SF 182 Service Agreement form.
You will be required to sign a DD Form 2365 DoD Civilian Employee Overseas Emergency-Essential Position Agreement upon placement of the position.
You will be required to deploy (World Wide) with military units to which assigned/attached in support of tactical contingency, and field operations.
This position requires the ability to physically perform job requirements for extended periods of time, and participate in the unit's physical fitness and field training.
You will be required to maintain annual medical, dental, and other personal readiness standards such as wills, power of attorney, family care plans for single parents, passports required for deployment.
You will be required to pass a pre and post deployment physical health screenings and receive immunizations for pre deployment.
This position requires the ability to carry the M-9 service pistol for self-defense while deployed to a combat zone.
This position if elected to carry the M-9 service pistol must successfully complete the familiarization training before taking possession of the weapon.
Education
In lieu of specialized experience listed in the Qualifications section, applicants may qualify based on education OR equivalent combination of experience and education as follows:
GS-11:
- I have successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or
- I have successfully completed three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree or
- I have successfully completed an LL.M. degree that is related to the position being filled.
