About the Position: Serves as the Military Plans Specialist for planning and sourcing of contingency and operational plans.
Duties
Identifies USARAK units to support combat/combat support/combat service support sourcing requirements.
Provides updates and recommendations to the Division Chief, USARAK G357, and Commanding General about USARAK support for contingency plans and operational rotations.
Provides recommendations about contingency planning concept development and USARAK force sourcing capabilities based upon knowledge about combat/combat support/combat service support forces attached to USARAK.
Participates in Operational Planning Team sessions with ALCOM, USARNORTH, Alaska Army National Guard, local, state, and federal agencies in support of Homeland Defense and Defense Support.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Travel in theater of approximately 10% of the time may be required.
- Position requires a U.S. citizen with a TOP SECRET Security Clearance.
- Position requires that employee pass screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and subsequent periodic drug screening thereafter.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes utilizing integrated systems to plan and execute joint military operations and develop concept plans. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
