About the Position: Serves as a military human resources specialist for the United States Army Alaska (USARAK) G1 Plans, Operations, Policies, and Programs (POPP) office. Responsible for implementing military personnel policies, programs, and procedures for the USARAK's area of operations (AO); and ensuring the command complies with applicable Department of Defense (DoD) and DA policies, directives, regulations, and other guidelines.

Duties

Drafts, staffs, and completes written documents with higher headquarters, the command, and subordinate commands, as needed. General filing and records management in accordance with Army Records Information Management System (ARIMS). Develops, recommends, implements, and supervises the execution of the TASP for all USARAK units across three geographically separated installations. Analyzes significant military human resources (HR) issues and problems to recommend solutions. Conducts research; develops standard operating procedures (SOP), Organizational Inspection Program (OIP) checklists, and PowerPoint slides to update the command.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
  • Temporary Duty Travel (TDY) may be required up to 10% of the time.
  • The incumbent will be required to work overtime.

Specialized Experience (GS-09): I have one year of specialized experience in the Federal service which includes providing advisory services on a variety of staffing functions; participating in special projects or programs in support of military operations; and assisting with gathering data for special reports and/or projects. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position, such as human resources, law, business administration, public administration, economics, and/or statistics. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
