The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a first level supervisor, providing planning, directing, organizing, and exercising control over assigned employees to the organization.
Duties
DUTY 1: Performs supervisory personnel management responsibilities. Structures assignments and reviews work of subordinates based on priorities and deadlines, selective consideration of the difficulty and requirements of assignments, and the capabilities of employees.
DUTY 2: Plans, organizes, and directs the activities within the 66th Plans and Programs Section (S5), ensuing that administrative security programs comply with legal and regulatory requirements and meets customer needs.
DUTY 3: Represents the section and Squadron with a variety of installation and functional area organizations. Establishes, develops, and maintains effective working relationships with Group, Center, and assigned or tenant organization command and security offices.
DUTY 4: Ensures success of installation and unit security programs through the appropriate interpretation, planning, organizing, development, and implementation of guidance and policy contained in several DoD/DAF regulations concerning US National Security.
DUTY 5: Represents the Defense Force Commander/Security Forces Squadron Commander at meetings, conferences, workshops, panels, etc.

- Department of Defense Physical Security Certification conferral is required within 2 years of the established employee EOD or initial assignment date to this position in accordance with DOD 3305.13-M, DoD Security Accreditation and Certification.
- The listed certification requirements may not be deleted or modified without the written approval of the AF Security Functional Authority (SAF/AA) or their delegated security career field representative.
- Acts for the Commander of the Security Forces Squadron during absence of incumbent only, as specifically designated.
- Position Designated Key. In the event of a crisis, selectee must perform the Key/E-E duties until relieved. This position cannot be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization. Requires the incumbent be removed from military recall status.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the Specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Security Administration Series, 0080, There are no Group Coverage Qualification Standards for this series. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NH-02, equivalent to the next to lower grade GS-11 or equivalent in the Federal Service. Specialized experience must include experience in providing expertise and guidance for directing the development, execution and implementation of the security and oversight program. Extensive knowledge of the mission, roles, functions, organizational structure, management, and operation of large organizations to provide high level staff guidance and participate in the development of goals, objectives, and policies.
Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the NH-02 or GS-11 grade/level or equivalent position in the federal service.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of Security Forces Squadron mission and intricacies.
Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.
Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of a small to medium sized organization.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Knowledge of the policies, practices, regulation, and laws concerning administrative and resource management processes and initiatives.
Knowledge and skill in applying analytical and evaluative methods and techniques to issues or studies concerning the efficiency and effectiveness of manpower and personnel issues within the organization.
Knowledge of organizational and workload requirements and procedures.
Skill in conducting interviews with supervisors and employees to obtain information about organizational missions, functions, and work procedures.
Ability to analyze data to determine changes and trends.
Ability to gather, assemble, and analyze fact, draw conclusions, and devise solutions to problems.
Knowledge of required security training concepts, programs, procedures, and practices to establish and operate internal security programs.
Skill in developing, analyzing, and evaluating security programs to meet mission requirements and improve the security program for the installation.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
