About the Position: This position is located at the 404th Army Field Support Brigade in the Transportation Division on Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington.
Duties
Review documentation for completeness, accuracy, and legality of entitlements.
Determine the most efficient and economical rates and routes for shipment and storage of property.
Review advance shipping documents to determine appropriate arrangements and dispositions of shipment.
Schedule appointments over the phone/walk-in basis, computes the amount of time needed for the counseling appointment based upon information contained in the member's orders.
Provide Do it Yourself (DITTY) / Personally Procured Move (PPM) entitlement briefs to all active-duty members retiring or separating.
Screen movement orders for correct funding appropriation and citation, member entitlements and authorization for shipment.
Advise and update Service Members/Dependents on information regarding receipt/delivery of personnel property.
Independently plans and carries out the successive steps to complete transportation support duties and use accepted practices to resolve problems and deviations.
Handle a variety of problems arranging shipping work orders.
Independently address problems regarding short fuse expedited shipments, or last-minute carrier turn-backs as to keep customers shipments on track per the Required Delivery Date (RDD) and reporting timeline of the customers.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes determining the most efficient economical rate and routes for shipments; determining and advising on entitlements related to personal property shipment; researching and applying transportation rules, procedures, and operations; and using office automation software to create a variety of reports, spreadsheets, and correspondence. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

Education: One full year of graduate level education with a major study in accounting, business administration, business or commercial law, commerce, economics, engineering, finance, industrial management, statistics, traffic management, transportation, motor mechanics, or other fields related to the position. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
