This position is located in the Office of National Service Trust. The incumbent serves as an officer of the Trust and is responsible for the dissemination of Trust Funds to educational and lending institutions on the behalf of eligible enrollees.
Duties
As a Trust Officer you will:
Ensure that disbursement of funds are processed in a timely manner, manually and through the online payment system.
Implement the provisions of various acts, regulations, directives, etc.
Provide training, guidance and technical assistance to Trust customers.
Analyze and evaluate reporting information and provide technical guidance to internal and external customers.
Maintain contact with program officials and respond to questions regarding data discrepancies.
Perform special reviews to determine reliability and accuracy of member data and account statements.
Recommend solutions for resolving issues concerning customers' data.
Assist in researching and reconciling the Statement of Differences with Treasury.
Requirements
- You must be a United States Citizen
- A 2-year probationary period is required for new Federal employees and supervisors.
- Merit Promotion and internal applicants must submit a SF-50 to verify Status and grade
- Satisfactory completion of a background investigation.
- A financial disclosure may be required for this position.
Qualifications
Applicants must have one year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to at least the mid-range of the NY-02 pay band, which would be at or equivalent to, the GS-9 level in the Federal Service.
Specialized experience is that which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled.
Specialized experience includes:(1) reconciling financial transaction data, (2) assisting with evaluating and analyzing financial and statistical reports, and (3) participating in internal auditing procedure.
Such experience must be clearly documented in the applicant's resume.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps VISTA) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
If you are qualifying based on education alone, you must have Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
OR 3 years of progressively higher level education leading to such a degree. This education demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the work of this position. A copy of your unofficial transcript must be submitted, or you will lose consideration. You must submit evidence that any education completed in a foreign institution is equivalent to U.S. educational standards. You may also qualify based on a combination of education and experience, if applicable.
