THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 INDEFINITE EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This National Guard position is for a UH-72A/B LAKOTA A&P AIRCRAFT MECHANIC, Position Description Number D1063000 and is part of the CO AASF, National Guard.
The purpose of this position is to act as the Aircraft Mechanic and (Crew Chief) with responsibility for managing the operational readiness of one or more aircraft, and proficiency training of supported aviation unit personnel.
Duties
Manages, monitors or performs overall maintenance, servicing, inspections and documentation for one or more UH-72 A/B aircraft. Ensures all FAA logbooks, Army - Aircraft Note Book (ACN), and other aircraft documentation accurately reflects status and airworthiness of assigned aircraft. Clears Red X and circled Red X status symbols on aircraft forms for work performed. Applies ADs, ASBs, and other safety and maintenance records as required. Maintains weight and balance/mass balance records. Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations (ARMS, MCI), inspections, mobilization and support exercises. Complies with safety, fire, security, environmental, and housekeeping regulations. Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Relocation Incentive is available for only current federal employees. Will need a current appraisal in good standing.
- Eligible for a relocation incentive, the employee must have an appraisal from the prior with that?s a 3 or higher.
- Recruitment Incentive is for employees newly appointed to a position or following a break in service of at least 90 days.
- May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
- Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
- Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
- Membership in the Colorado Army National Guard or eligible to transfer.
- Must hold the grade of E-4 thru E-6.
- Compatible Military Assignment: 15 series MOS.
- Submit all required documentation.
- For positions requiring a security clearance (Secret or Top Secret) the applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment.
- Must have a FAA A and P license.
- Must be able to attend and pass UH-72 A and B maintenance qualification courses within 12 months of hire.

Military Grades: E-4 thru E-6
Compatible Military Assignments: 15 series MOS

Must have at least 18 months of Specialized Experience in each of the following:
1. Experience installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting and functionally testing the various major and minor mechanical and pneudraulic systems on an aircraft during overhaul or modification.
2. Experience coordinating work with other mechanics, and scheduling maintenance to ensure completion of critical actions and optimum workflow.
3. Experience instructing lower graded mechanics, military and other personnel in the disassembly and re-assembly of crash damaged engines, transmissions, gearboxes, hydraulic components, and fuel controls sufficient for the exhibit to be returned to its shipping container.
Preferred Experience
-Currently possess FAA A&P
-12 months experience maintaining UH-72A airframe
- UH-72B maintenance qualified
Relocation and Recruitment Incentives
Eligibility:
Recruitment-Employee newly appointedto a position or following a break in service of at least 90 days.
Relocation-Current employee who relocates to accept a position in a new geographic area. If you are eligible for a relocation incentive, the employee must have an appraisal from the prior with that's a 3 or higher.
Payments: Up to 25% of the annual rate of basic pay as of the beginning of the service period (includes locality pay/special rate supplement) multiplied by number of years (and fractions) covered by the service agreement. Subject to availability of funds and must be approved by TAG.
Education
Education cannot be substituted for Specialized Experience for this position.
