This position is located in the Service Center Operations Directorate, HART (Humanitarian, Adjustment, Removing Conditions, and Travel Documents) Service Center. As an Immigration Services Officer, you will adjudicate complex and precedent setting cases, provide oversight to lower level officers and perform analytical and evaluative work associated with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) program activities.

Duties

Support Adjudications by adjudicating complex cases, conducting security checks, identifying fraud, program quality assurance, conduct training/mentoring, serving as a liaison to both external and internal stakeholders and communicate decisions. Perform analytical and evaluative work associated with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) program activities; as well as analyzing the effectiveness of existing and proposed standards, regulations and policies. Provide oversight and adjudication of cases involving national security and egregious public safety concerns and serve as a subject matter expert in more complex adjudications. Conduct legal research and prepare position papers, notices of intent, and notices to appear in removal proceedings. Develop standard operating policies and procedures designed to detect and prevent benefit fraud and monitor progress to determine if objectives are being met. Liaison with USCIS Fraud Detection and National Security (FDNS) officers, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) attorneys and agents, and other legal, law enforcement, and intelligence officials.

Qualifications

The qualifications for this position must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 09/15/2023. Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service. The Time-in-Grade requirement must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 09/15/2023. GS-13: You qualify at the GS-13 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, which is equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the federal government, that equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have experience performing the following duties: Establishing and maintaining liaisons with local, state and federal government agencies on matters relating to immigration policy; Analyzing adjudications operations, practices and procedures to make formal recommendations to leadership; Adjudicating complex immigration cases, oftentimes, in which no precedent has been set; Providing training, coaching, or mentoring to ensure quality and consistency in the adjudication process.
