About the Position: This position is located at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center Director for Medicine Department of Neurology Office of the Chief, Bethesda Maryland.
Parking at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center is limited. The use of commuting alternatives is recommended.
Duties
Advise the Health System Specialist in specific areas on items such as leave usage, anticipated personnel losses and makes recommendations for additional personnel.
Assist the Service Health System Specialist in preparing the assigned work area's recruitment actions.
Review and update the working Intermediate Manning Document (IMD) for the assigned work area.
Plan and organize all administrative procedures used by subordinate personnel to ensure consistency and compliance with accepted policies and guidance.
Evaluate clinical administrative procedures to determine when changes need to be made and independently effects minor changes.
Coordinate conferences and meetings by arranging space, time, equipment, and supplies.
Prepare purchase instruments for obtaining personnel and equipment for assigned work area.
Prepare travel documents, makes arrangements for travel, and generates reimbursement documents.
Requirements
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Tier 3 2security investigation or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- This position requires the incumbent to be able to lift 25 lbs.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing administrative support in a Medical Treatment Facility (MTF); advising on areas which affect personnel management to include recruitment/personnel loss, employee performance, and/or training; and assisting with an annual budget such as procurement of personnel or equipment and travel arrangements/expenditures. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
