You will serve as a Transportation Assistant (Personal Property) in the Navy Household Goods (HHG) Personal Property Shipping Office (PPSO) of NAVSUP FLEET LOGISTICS CENTER NORFOLK.
Duties
You will coordinate necessary arrangements for movement of personal property.
You will determine best mode of transportation for cargo being shipped.
You will prepare shipment costs.
You will identify inaccurate charges from carries and mitigate problems with carriers.
You will maintain and update various manuals covering transportation rules and regulations for shipping.
Requirements

- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-06) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector identifying the modes of transportation, necessary special equipment, and services required for shipments, securing carriers, and advising customers on transportation issues. Examples of specialized experience may include: 1) Analyzing material dimensions and weight to determine specific handling, packing, loading, or type of carrier equipment required, including over-dimensional loads; 2) Computing shipment costs and/or verifying that charges are valid; 3) Investigating and determining carriers' responsibilities for discrepancies; 4) Using transportation software as required to process, coordinate, and track shipments; 5) Receiving delivery requirements and reviewing delivery routes.
