Duties

Provide overall supervision of the radiation safety, range safety, tactical safety, and the explosives safety program for the entire USARPAC theater of operations, to include: Hawaii, Alaska, Japan, and Eighth U.S. Army (Korea). Develop plans, policies and procedures to fully implement the Army radiation and explosives safety program in a coordinated manner with the major subordinate commands (MSCs). Oversee the implementation of range safety procedures throughout the theater and accompanies troops on tactical exercises. Review safety requirements and resolution criteria contained within Army Service Command regulations and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Conduct investigations of catastrophic occupational accidents involving chemicals, radiation and explosives. Conduct site visits of installations, reviews procedures and recommends necessary changes in safety procedures, requirements, directives, technical manuals, etc. Provide safety services for multi-national, joint, and Army operations. Validate risk assessments, identify, analyze and evaluate diverse high risk military operations. Accompany troops on tactical exercises to ensure regulatory compliance and provide advice on risk management integration.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
• Position is designated as Emergency Essential in support of the Army mobilization and wartime mission during periods of increased tension or mobilization.
• Position requires medical screening and vaccinations. Must pass pre-employment physical examination.
• May be required to deploy on 24 hour notice at such times as directed to participate as a member of a deployment team.
