This position is located in Warren, Michigan, and is within the US Army Combat Capabilities Development Command (DEVCOM) Ground Vehicle Systems Center (GVSC-IS.)

Duties

Aid in planning and executing assigned projects, which involve, as a minimum research, development, procurement, production and logistical support. Advise overall project planning and policy meetings and represents GVSC Immersive Simulation (IS) at meetings with both internal and external customers, other RDECs, and private industry. Manage a comprehensive portfolio of research, development, design and fabrication projects to provide a balanced, economical and effective view for customers within the assigned projects. Represent Immersive Simulation at meetings and reviews pertaining to all aspects of assigned projects. Maintains continuing surveillance of trends throughout the project lifecycle. Evaluate data relating to short- and long-range projects for financial objectives and requirements to keep abreast of project progress and risks. Maintain continuing surveillance of trends throughout the project lifecycle. Review reports, analyzes issues, directs problem solving, evaluates progress, assesses outcomes, reports on cost/schedule/technical progress and outcomes, and recommends follow-on actions.

Requirements

  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 20% of the time.
  • Army Acquisition, Logistics and Technology Workforce Position: This is an Army Acquisition, Logistics and Technology Workforce position.
  • Lab Demo Probationary/Trial Period: Appointment to this position is subject to a three-year probationary or trial period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

Specialized experience is defined as performing duties that include: 1) Managing and executing programs within the DoD Acquisition Life Cycle; displaying knowledge and familiarity with DoD 5000.02 and its application to major Acquisition Programs; 2) Effectively communicating critical information to senior leadership through briefings and written examples; 3) Leading projects and teams towards defined productivity metrics and results in a technical environment; 4) Using project management principles and techniques, systems engineering tools and best practices, advanced design methodologies, and risk management. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Administration and ManagementOral CommunicationTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (DE-02/GS-11).
