As a Lead Visual Information Specialist, you will lead the coordination, design, creation and production of digital, web, and press-ready content for print and wide dissemination to include on OCC websites and related applications. This position is located in Communcations, Public Affairs, Comptroller's Office in Washington, DC.

Duties

As a Lead Visual Information Specialist, you will: Lead and coach team of visual information specialists that provide authoritative advice in coordinating the design and development of electronic and print publishing products. Manage design team customer request queue in absence of manager and in collaboration with editorial services team lead, helping fairly balance workload among employees. Articulate and communicate to team members the scope of assignments. Establish sound and practical deadlines, negotiating schedules on behalf of other designers with responsible parties to ensure production of publications and supplements deliver on schedule. Mitigate conflicts with deadlines between team workload and customer expectations. Estimate and report to the team on progress in meeting established milestones and deadlines for completion of assignments, projects and tasks, and ensure that all team members are aware of and participate in planning for achievement of team goals and objectives. Advise other visual information specialists, customers, and management on strategic direction and the technical advantages and disadvantages of various formats, styles, media, and methods of presentation, suggesting those best meeting the objectives of each project. Lead discussions with other visual information specialists to make recommendations or decisions on design matters such as size, layout, kind and quality of materials, color schemes, typography, lighting effects, visual elements, reproduction methods, or fabrication techniques. Present information at meetings on behalf of Design Service to the Office of Public Affairs and other business units. Lead team meetings of visual information specialists. Serves as a member of the division leadership team. Give presentations on presentation techniques to other business units. Primary agency arbiter of OCC visual identity standards. Administer and maintain visual identity standards publications and websites. Ensures team adheres to these standards and helps team members interpret and apply standards. Interacts with customers on visual identity style point questions and clarifications. Coordinate new or revised visual identity style points. Approve specifications and standards for formats, templates, and visual identity style. Enable engagement by maintaining a high degree of rapport with other unit, division, and Public Affairs team members and management. Serve as a coach on the team to coordinate team initiatives and influence consensus building among the team and its constituents. Communicate team consensus and recommendations to the supervisor on actions affecting team and individual awards, rewards, and recognition.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of this announcement: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the NB-IV band level in the Federal service. Examples of specialized experience for this position include: - Coordinating, designing, creating and/or producing visual communication products and projects AND - Contributing to the development and implementation of policies, practices, and procedures related to visual information products. The experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector, or through volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.
