You will serve as a COMPUTER SCIENTIST in the ENTERPRISE SYSTEMS ENGINEERING DIV within the UNDERSEA SYSTEM & SUSTAINMENT ENGINEERING DEPT of NAVUNSEAWARCENDIV KEYPORT WA.

Duties

You will plan, schedule and/or conduct detailed investigation of a phase of a technical project or a complete project with several complex features. You will develop software for complex software systems using algorithms, data structures, and a variety of programming languages to create software applications. You will prepare software architecture design documents. You will write software test or software quality assurance plans, with responsibility for complete plans or a major segment of a complex plan developed by a team. You will review and comment on software test plans developed by others. You will conduct software tests in a laboratory setting or monitor specific parts of a complex test. You will coordinate and monitor contractor operations and projects; reviewing contractor plans, evaluating performance, and/or providing professional review and consultation to the contractor. You will perform failure analysis studies; writing reports recommending corrective action. This position is designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position. You must obtain and maintain the credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 for specialty area 621 level Intermediate within 12 months of appointment. This is a bargaining unit position. This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time. You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

Qualifications

For GS-12: In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: As a professional computer scientist designing, developing, and maintaining software utilizing computer science methods such as algorithms, data structures, and programming languages to develop software applications. For GS-11: In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: As a professional computer scientist analyzing software design and development to determine troubleshooting solutions. Examples of Qualifying Experience may include utilizing methods such as algorithms, data structures, and programming languages to develop software applications. Education

Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess Degree: in computer science or degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours were in a combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus.
