About the Position: This position is a DOD Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system position in the Excepted Service under 10 USC 1599f. Employees occupying CES positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the Fort Liberty, NC.

Duties

Supervise employees engaged in information technology work; review the work of subordinates and accepts amends or rejects such work. Interview candidates for positions and makes recommendations/selections for appointments, promotions and reassignments. Oversee implementation of new system hardware and software and develops operating procedures. Identify and anticipate server performance, availability, capacity or configuration problems; and initiates corrective or preventive actions, such as increasing disk or memory capacity to improve performance. Serve as the primary systems integrator within the Director of Information Management.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Three year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • The employee must obtain and maintain at a minimum a Secret security clearance.
  • This position is designated as non-critical sensitive IT-II for Information Technology purposes.
  • This position requires the employee to occasionally travel (in the most expedient manner) away from the normal duty station.
  • The employee may be required to work overtime.
  • The employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
  • Call back and emergency duty are regular requirements of this position.
  • This position is designated as mission essential position. The employee maybe required to remain on duty or report for duty during severe weather or other installation closings
  • The employee must posses or be able to acquire Systems Administration/Network Management certificates.
  • Must possess a valid motor vehicle driver's license.
  • This position requires the employee to have the ability to discern colors, contrast and depth.
  • Although some work is sedentary, work conditions such as ergonomic issues related to lifting and carrying, seating, or video display terminals; repetitive motion injury from using computers, and the like may be expected.
  • May be required to wear an electronic pager or cellular telephone and maintain a working home telephone at all times.
